Getting started
What does grewray replace?
Usually a spreadsheet of leads, a separate invoicing app, a shared drive and a group chat that everyone scrolls to find the latest update. grewray puts contacts, leads, jobs, scheduling, invoices, expenses and files in one place.
How long does it take to get started?
Most teams are working in grewray the same day. If you have data to bring across, send us your exports and we move it in for you within 72 hours.
Do I need to install anything?
No. grewray runs in the browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone, and is built to work well on each. There is nothing to install and nothing to update.
Can I try grewray before I sign up?
Yes. The interactive demo runs a sample business in your browser, with a guided tour from a new lead to a paid invoice. Nothing is saved and no account is needed.
Pricing and billing
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial with every feature of that plan switched on. Nothing is charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel before it does.
Do prices include tax?
Prices are shown before tax. Our payment partner, Paddle, acts as merchant of record and adds the sales tax or VAT that applies where you are at checkout.
Can I change plans later?
Any time, in either direction. Upgrades apply straight away; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period.
What happens to my data if I leave?
It stays yours. Export everything, in open formats, whenever you like, free of charge. There is no export fee and no notice period.
Why per business and not per seat?
Because small teams grow in ones and twos. Each plan includes a generous number of users, so adding the next hire is not a pricing decision.
What counts as a user?
Anyone who signs in to your business: owners, admins and staff. Your customers never count, because they see quotes, invoices and progress through secure links with no account.
Is there a setup fee?
No. There is no setup fee, and migrating your data in is included on every plan. Custom work beyond configuration is priced on our published rate card.
Do you offer refunds?
The trial is free, so there is nothing to refund if you stop. You can cancel any time and keep access to the end of the period you paid for; a period that has already started is not refunded unless the law requires it. Billing errors on our side are always refunded.
Moving your data in
What can you migrate?
Spreadsheets, CSV files and the exports most CRMs, invoicing and accounting tools produce: contacts, leads, jobs, open invoices and their history.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Migration is included on every plan, and your subscription does not start until you have checked your data inside grewray.
What if something does not come across right?
Tell us and we fix it. You review everything before your first payment, which is the whole point of doing it this way.
Who sees my data while you move it?
Only the migration engineers working on your account, on our own systems, and only for as long as the migration takes. Nothing is shared with anyone else.
Your data and security
Is my data safe from other businesses on grewray?
Separation between businesses is the first thing grewray was built around. Four independent layers, from the application down to the database itself, each stop one business from ever reading another's records.
Who owns the data I put in grewray?
You do. We host and process it only to provide grewray to you, we never sell it, and you can export all of it, in open formats, whenever you like, free of charge.
Does grewray use cookies or tracking?
This website sets no cookies and runs no tracking. The app sets one strictly necessary cookie, to keep you signed in, and nothing else.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your business becomes read-only and your data stays available to export for 30 days. We email the owners before it is deleted, and it then leaves our backups within a further 30 days.
How grewray works
Can grewray be set up for how my business works?
Yes, by configuration rather than custom code. Rename stages and labels, add the fields your trade needs and switch on an industry pack. Anything beyond that is on our published rate card.
Can my customers pay online?
Yes. Every invoice can carry a Pay now link, so customers pay online and the invoice marks itself paid. You can also record cash and bank transfers by hand.
Does grewray connect to my accounting software?
Yes. Invoices, payments and expenses sync with QuickBooks Online, Xero and Zoho Books, so your books match without retyping.
Can my clients see how their job is going?
Yes. Share a secure page with the stages, dates and files you choose. Clients need no password, and never see your costs, margins or internal notes.
What does grewray do automatically?
Booking confirmations and reminders, payment reminders before and after the due date, turning a won lead into a job, turning an accepted quote into an invoice, and drafting a stage invoice when a milestone is reached.
Industries and packs
What is an industry pack?
The workflow a particular trade runs on, added on top of the core every business shares: bills of quantities for interior design, memberships for gyms. It is configuration, never a separate product.
My trade has no pack. Can I still use grewray?
Yes. Most service businesses run on the core alone: leads, scheduling, jobs, invoicing with online payment, expenses, files and team access, with custom fields for anything particular to your work.
What if my pack is not ready yet?
Start on the core today. When your pack ships, it switches on in the same workspace, with nothing to move and nothing to set up again.
